The MiraTone Festival and Academy, founded by violinist Miranda Liu, is filling Budapest with music for the eighth time this year. Over the years, the event has become a defining gathering place in the European classical music scene, where internationally acclaimed artists from around the world inspire one another and the audience.

The evening’s program takes the audience on a journey through the diverse world of 20th- and 21st-century Central and Eastern European music. The quiet beauty and poetic tone of Valentin Silvestrov’s works create a unique atmosphere, while Jan Freidlin’s composition “Expectation” will be performed for the first time in Hungary. In the second half of the concert, lyrical tones give way to ever-increasing energy and virtuosity: Franz Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6 and Brahms’s popular Hungarian Dances transform the evening into a celebration of folk-inspired music, passion, and brilliant instrumental performance.

What makes this concert special is that the MiraTone Ensemble brings together the festival’s professors, participants, and young musicians from the Ukrainian Youth Symphony Orchestra on stage. The result is a vibrant and diverse musical community where different countries, generations, and musical experiences converge. The concert showcases both the power of classical music traditions and how these traditions live on in the hands of the next generation.  The concert is a celebration of the collective creativity of young musicians and their mentors, where tradition and contemporary musical thought engage in a fruitful dialogue.
