About the Festival

Chamber Music in the Heart of Central Europe

The MiraTone Festival and Academy is a distinguished annual celebration of classical music, held each August in Budapest – one of Europe’s cultural capitals. Since its founding in 2019 by acclaimed violinist Miranda Liu, the festival has rapidly grown into a beacon of artistic excellence and cross-cultural collaboration, earning international recognition for its forward-thinking programming and commitment to nurturing the next generation of musical talent.

MiraTone’s vision is rooted in the belief that chamber music should be both intimate and inclusive, accessible yet uncompromising in quality. Its programming unites diverse artistic voices from across the globe, fostering an environment where seasoned artists, emerging virtuosi, and curious audiences converge in a shared musical journey. The Festival brings together top-tier performers and educators for a week of over a dozen public concerts and hundreds of intensive master classes that spotlight the creative process.

MiraTone has drawn master class participants from over 25 countries, many of whom have gone on to win international competitions and become members of major orchestras worldwide. What sets MiraTone apart is its uniquely holistic approach: participants are immersed in a rigorous artistic experience that integrates technique, interpretation, and intercultural exchange at the highest level.

In addition to its annual Budapest edition, MiraTone has also presented successful satellite editions in Spain and Bulgaria, further expanding its international reach and cultural impact.

Under the artistic direction of Miranda Liu, the festival continues to push artistic boundaries while staying grounded in the European chamber music tradition. Its cosmopolitan ethos and commitment to excellence have positioned MiraTone among the most exciting classical music events in Central Europe today.

The MiraTone Festival and Academy has twice been honored with the prestigious EFFE Label as a “Remarkable Arts Festival”, awarded by the European Festivals Association (EFA) for its artistic excellence, innovation, community impact, sustainability, and international collaboration.
