Hailed for her phenomenal technique and sparkling play of colours (Opus Klassiek), her rich tonal repertoire and enchanting melodic shaping (Turun Sanomat), and great skill and intensity (Flute Journal), Noemi Gyori is a unique voice on the classical music scene. A renowned soloist and chamber musician on both modern and baroque flutes, her creative programming and interpretations of a broad repertoire are built on flawless technical facility, enchanting tonal richness, and meticulous research; captivating audiences in over thirty countries.
In recent months Noemi premiered Christian Mason’s Thaleia Concerto with the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège (OPRL) and the BBC National
Orchestra of Wales, and performed Ibert’s Flute Concerto with the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and the Georgian Philharmonic Orchestra. The Hungarian premiere of Mieczysław Weinberg’s First Flute Concerto was another standout achievement of her past season.
The first months of 2025 bring exciting new releases, starting with Sinan Savaskan’s Solo Flute Music on Métier, followed by The Afternoon of a Nymph on Rubicon. This disc explores flute music inspired by Greek mythology, complemented by poetry from Anna T. Szabó. A truly unique project, it reinterprets canonical works through a female perspective, blending musical and literary artistry. Later in the year, Noemi will record her debut baroque flute album for Hungaroton, featuring the works of Telemann and marking a milestone in her exploration of historical performance practice.
Other highlights of the first months of 2025 include the Hungarian premiere of Christian Mason’s Thaleia Concerto with the Kodály Philharmonic in Debrecen, performances with the Fitzwilliam Quartet at Clare Hall, Cambridge, and Kings Place, London, as well as recitals with Trio Hepp at the Midi Concert Series in Liège and Brussels.
Noemi will also give recitals and masterclasses at the Tallinn Music Academy as part of the Tampere Flute Days in Tallinn. Since joining the Artistic Team of the Tampere Flute Fest in 2024, Noemi has further strengthened her role as a leader in the international flute community, bringing her creative vision and passion to various renowned flute events.
Having graduated with honours from the Liszt Academy of Music and completed postgraduate studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, where her teachers included Henrik Pröhle, Barbara Gisler-Haase, András Adorján, Lisa Beznosiuk, and Benedek Csalog, Noemi became the first flutist in history to be awarded a PhD in Performance Practice from the Royal Academy of Music in London in 2020. Beyond her solo career, Noemi is principal flautist of the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich and has performed with the BBC Philharmonic and Vienna Philharmonic (Vienna State Opera) orchestras. She has directed several festivals, including the Arcus Temporum Festival (2023), Ördögkatlan Festival (2019), and IKZE Contemporary Music Festival (2004–2009). She has also co-authored The Classical Flute and Guitar Collection, a series of transcriptions of keyboard works by Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven for flute and guitar, published by Doblinger Musikverlag.
Noemi is a sought-after adjudicator and masterclass leader, having taught at top conservatoires and specialist schools across three continents. She has been a flute tutor at the Junior Royal Northern College of Music for over a decade and has taught at the University of Manchester since 2019. Her critically acclaimed discography spans Rubicon, Hungaroton, and Genuin labels, with numerous recordings featured on major international radio broadcasts. Her premiere of Christian Mason’s Thaleia Concerto was recorded and broadcast by Mezzo/Medici. She has been featured as the cover artist for The Flute (Japan), The Flute View (USA), Eurowinds (Germany), and Gramofon (Hungary). Noemi is a Miyazawa Flutes artist, playing a 14K gold LaFin headjoint sponsored by the Solti Foundation and a 14K gold Miyazawa Boston flute, funded by the Philip Loubser Foundation.
In addition to her musical endeavors, Noemi launched the Noemi Collection in 2018, a series of art objects created in collaboration with leading designers.
