He has released more than ten solo albums on Hunnia Records. His recordings include works by Bach, Liszt, Chopin, Poulenc, Rachmaninoff, Mussorgsky, Messiaen, Ligeti, Bartók and Máté Balogh. He has also recorded all of Bartók's piano concertos. He is currently preparing a recording of the first volume of Bach's Wohltemperiertes Klavier. Critics have praised his 'richness of detail', 'depth of thought', 'perfectionism', 'intellectual discipline' and 'perfect technique combined with almost manic virtuosity'. He is a member of the 'Carpathian Impressions' trio and the 'Metrum Ensemble'. In addition to performing, Borbély is actively involved in the education and training of future generations, gives master classes abroad and at home, and is a frequent guest on the podium and is often invited to sit on the jury of national and international competitions.
