Ján Krigovský studied double bass at the State Conservatory Košice and at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, and violone at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
As a soloist and chamber musician he works with numerous ensembles and individuals specializing in historically-informed performance practice, such as the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Ars Antiqua Austria, the Wiener Akademie Orchestra and Jordi Savall. He has also performed with contemporary music ensembles (including the Rafael Catalá Ensemble and the ALEA Ensemble) and as the double-bass section leader in orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and moderntimes_1800. He appears on more than 200 CD recordings, is a founding member of the double bass quartet Bass Band (formed in 2013) and artistic director of the Collegium Wartberg. In 2012 he founded the Musica Perennis Iuventutis festival, which supports needy and disadvantaged children.
Ján Krigovský teaches at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica and at the Music and Arts Private University of Vienna.
