Igor Karško

Igor Karsko was born in 1969 in  Slovakia. He studied  the violin at the Concervatory in Kosice with K.Petroczi. He recieved his diploma with distinction. In Prag beside violin he studied Chamber music and conducting. In 1991, Igor Karsko was invited by Lord Menuhin to study with him and Alberto Lysy at the Academy in Gstaad, Swizerland. He was a member of Camerata Lysy and Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra under Claudio Abbado. Igor Karsko was 1.st concertmaster of the State Philharmonic of Kosice.

            Since1991 he is  a member of  The Serenade Strings Trios which won first prize at the international chamber music competitions of Caltanissetta in 1991 and Trapani. He has played recitals, chamber music concerts, as well as appearing as soloist all over  Europe. Participates since 2004  in Festival Convergence in Bratislava.Other activities include: radio and CD recordings for Gallo, Wiediscon, EMC and DRS.

       In 1993 he became first Concertmaster of the Lucerne Symphony orchestra and the Camerata Zürich which he also held Position of Artistic Director. In addition he is also guest leader with the Zürich Chamber orchestra, Camerata Bern and Kammerorchester Basel. Other ensemble memberships include: Swiss Nonet, Musisian du Louvre with Marc Minkowski. Last but not least,he is a founder member of the barock ensemble' La Gioconda' a part of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra and La Banda Antix.  He helds a Proffesor Chair at the Music Highschool of Luzern since 1996. Since 2017 he cooperates with Balthasar-Neumann Ensemble on Projects CUE and NOVA as Violinist, conductor and Teacher.
